Consul from the American Consulate in Fukuoka Visits Yamaguchi University

On the 27th of August, the Consul for Public Affairs, Mr. Michael Chadwick, of the American Consulate in Fukuoka visited the Yoshida Campus and attended a meeting with the Head of the International and Societal Cooperation and Vice-President, Dr. Matsuda, to discuss student exchange.

"With the increased internationalisation of universities and industry, we encourage the students of Yamaguchi University to travel overseas and study in foreign countries including America. We would also like to increase the number of international students we receive from America," commented Dr. Matsuda as he supported the collaboration between Yamaguchi University and universities in America.

Consul Chadwick commented, "Even though the number of Japanese students studying in America is decreasing, we would like Japanese students to learn more about and gain an interest in studying in America. My experience as a foreign language teaching assistant several years ago and my experience in Japanese industry undoubtedly lead to my current position here at the Consulate and I am testimony to the importance of gaining international experiences." The Consul then went on to propose the launch of a lecture aimed at Yamaguchi University students regarding studying in America.
International exchange between Yamaguchi University and foreign universities is expected to advance rapidly in the near future.
