Three Representatives from Shandong University Visit Yamaguchi University

On Thursday April 26th Deputy Director Liu Lihua of the Academic Affairs Office, Vice Dean Lu Yupeng of the School of Materials Science and Engineering and Vice Dean Shi Bing of the Software College visited Yamaguchi University from Shandong University. They mainly held discussions about the student exchange through the Double Degree Program and credit transfer conducted in collaboration with the Graduate School of Science and Engineering of Yamaguchi University.

The three first paid a courtesy call on President Marumoto, and discussed the possibility of future student exchange and a request from Shandong University to invite professors from Yamaguchi University to give lectures at the university. Second, they visited the Student Affairs Department’s Education Support Division and observed the academic affairs system.

In the afternoon, they had a discussion on the possibility of enforcing the Double Degree Program and the holding of joint workshop between Shandong University and Yamaguchi University with Dean Hori at the Faculty of Engineering. During the discussion they also introduced the internationalization of Shandong University and their advanced approach on English education. The time spent in discussion also was a fruitful from the Yamaguchi University perspective.

Shandong University and Yamaguchi University have actively promoted mutual exchange of professors/other staff and students since the conclusion of Academic Exchange Agreement in 1983 and next year will mark the 30th anniversary of this agreement. It is hoped that this visit will facilitate exchange with Shandong University, the first overseas university with which Yamaguchi University has concluded such an academic exchange agreement.
