Fifteen-Member Delegation including staff　from University of Technology Malaysia Visit Yamaguchi University

On Thursday, November 21st, 15 staff and students from University of Technology Malaysia (UTM) visited Yamaguchi University’s Yoshida Campus. They came to Japan as a part of the “Global Outreach Program”, a training program conducted by UTM to deepen the international understanding of teachers, staff, and students. They also plan to visit Hiroshima, Kobe, Osaka, and Tokyo. At UTM, Malaysia-Japan International Institute of Technology (MJIIT) was established using yen loans to introduce Japan’s engineering education system to Malaysia. Yamaguchi University’s Graduate School of Innovation and Technology Management has offered cooperation to it as a managing school in the field of technology management. In this context, UTM and Yamaguchi University concluded an Academic Exchange Agreement in 2012, and since then, the two universities have cultivated exchange projects, of which　this visit was a part.

On the day of the visit, the guests first toured the library and learned about its management style and adopted systems, after which they moved to University Hall and listened to explanations on crisis management from our university’s staff in charge. Subsequently, Mr. Khairull of UTM’s Risk Management Division and Vice-President Hattori introduced each other’s universities, and the program at Yamaguchi University was completed with an exchange of gifts.

Yamaguchi University and Malaysia have conducted a variety of exchanges including the Faculty of Engineering’s Twinning Program. Hopefully, this visit will trigger more exchange projects between Yamaguchi University and Malaysia.
